More Than Mattresses Will Return Next Week
By the way — how often do you clean your bed sheets?

Hi everyone —
I am taking a short break from posting because this week was…a lot.
For starters, I’m still without my trusty MacBook Air. While I do have a backup laptop (a PC), it’s not quite the same, and I’m still finding my bearings.
Moreover, I want to take some time to rethink the direction of this Substack. The focus of More Than Mattresses won’t change, but some of my approaches may, including my posting schedule. It’s a work in progress.
Finally, I need a mental reset. I was knee-deep in Prime Day muck, among other things, and started to lose the plot. I did consider just powering through and writing this week’s post, but decided that I would rather approach it with a clearer mind.
In the meantime, here are a few posts from the back catalogue for you to check out…
I'm Tired of Being Tracked
I ditched my Oura Ring and WHOOP Watch for 28 days and learned a lot about myself, but does that mean I'm breaking up with my wearables for good?
Ask a Mattress Tester About... How to make a dorm bed bearable
Plus, other questions about cheap Amazon mattresses and what happens to the mattresses I test.

Speaking of The PR Pile…
I won’t be doing a roundup of news stories this month due to the schedule change. However, I do want to leave you with some intriguing (if not slightly unsettling) data.
MattressNextDay asked 2,000 Americans about their bedroom cleanliness and bedtime habits and discovered the following:
Only 46% of Americans wash their bedding once a week, while 25% do so every two weeks. A mere 9% wash their sheets once a month, which is more than those who launder them every three weeks (5%).
33% of Americans never brush their teeth before bed; fortunately, more than half take care of their pearly whites before going to sleep (65%).
Nearly half of Americans say they eat food in bed, and 21% smoke or vape where they sleep.
Two-thirds of Americans allow their pets to sleep in bed with them, which sounds nice…but if you’re a cat owner (like me), you’ll need to make sure kitty’s paws are free of litter.
If you’re curious about where you stand among your fellow Americans, you can read the results of the survey here.
Coming next week…
Naturepedic’s Chief Growth Officer, Arin Schultz, sat down with me to discuss the brand’s evolution from crib mattresses to a full range of sleep products for the entire family. He also shared the ways Naturepedic educates consumers on the benefits of going organic in the bedroom, and how it ensures that its suppliers and production partners meet rigorous standards set by certifying bodies such as FSC and GOTS.
Finally, I want to thank all of you who’ve been showing your support through comments, likes, shares, and messages. It truly means a lot to me as I build from scratch. I promise that next week, I’ll come back Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger.
Of course, I am always open to suggestions and constructive feedback, so never hesitate to share your thoughts with me about what you’d like to see!
